Sketching on the Fly!

Discussing Definitions of Doodles, Sketches, & Studio Pieces

A sketch is usually based on gathering visional data from real observations. Whereas, a thumbnail can simply be a small organizational trial. Sketching while moving requires one to limit the amount of data chosen. The difference between doodling and sketching is one is based on real visual data, the other is playing with shape, color, form, etc. Doodles can be purely abstract.

A studio piece can have its inception from doodles and/or sketches. It is a formal, enlarged, polished piece which tends to end up framed and displayed on a wall.
