This self portrait was an assignment from a favorite teacher in which the objects around the face give information about one’s interests and likes and loved ones.

A Melissa Creature
The Melissa Creature is an imaginary being created by my granddaughter. It was made out of Styrofoam, the colored dots were straight pins with linear aspects for the mouth, eye, and “wings.” The beings at the bottom of the painting are reproductions of Pink Flea characters invented by my husband while telling bedtime stories. They had adventures in outer space and make believe worlds, and included such characters as The Multicolored Robot, The Blue Doodle Bug, The Red Red Rose, and others.
